Ryan A. Langlois, Ph.D.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

MCKNIGHT PRESIDENTIAL FELLOW

Ryan received his B.S. in Biology from The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, later earning a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Iowa. Ryan did his postdoctoral fellowship training at Mount Sinai in New York City. He joined the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Minnesota in 2014.

Frances Shepherd, Ph.D.

POSTDOCTORAL fellow

Frances graduated with a B.S. in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2014. She earned her Ph.D. in the Veterinary Medicine program at the University of Minnesota focusing on the evolution of rotavirus in swine. She joined the Langlois Lab in 2020.

Jordan Becker, Ph. D.

Postdoctoral Fellow

Jordan received his B.S. in Kinesiology in 2009 and Ph. D. in Cancer Biology and Molecular Virology in 2017 from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Jordan Joined the Langlois Lab in 2022 after a postdoctoral fellowship with the Reuben Harris Lab.

 
 

Cera McDonald, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow

Cera graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry and Cell Biology in 2014 and an MSc in Life and Medical Sciences in 2016. She completed her doctoral degree in 2022 in the Genes and Development program of the Göttingen Graduate Center for Neurosciences, Biophysics, and Molecular Biosciences at the University of Göttingen in Germany, focusing on transcriptional regulation by the transcription factor Tfap2c. She joined the Langlois lab in 2022.

Dira Putri

Dira graduated with a B.S. from California State University Long Beach in 2016. She is a graduate student in the lab through the Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology (MICaB) program as of 2019.

Tristan Neal

Ph.D. Student

Tristan graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Arizona State University in 2019 and studied human polyomaviruses as a postbaccalaureate trainee at the NIH. He is a graduate student in the Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology program and joined the Langlois lab in 2022.

 
 

Mark Salnikov

PH.D. Student

Mark graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota in 2021. After graduating, he worked as a technician for Steve Rice, studying herpesviruses. Mark joined the MICaB graduate program in 2023.

Clayton Mickelson, M.S

MS RESEARCH Technician / Lab Manager

Clay received his B.A. in Biology and in Sociology/Anthropology from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2016. He then received his M.S. in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He joined the Langlois Lab in 2020.

Scientific Director - Antiviral Drug Discovery Core

Adam received his B.S. in Biology from Bethel University. He joined the University of Minnesota in 2007, and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Minnesota in 2018.

Research Technician

Autumn received her B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Minnesota in 2022. She joined the Langlois Lab in 2022.

Lauren begun pursuing a Microbiology major and Public Health minor at the U of M in 2019. She joined the lab as an undergraduate researcher in 2021 and as a Research Technician in 2023 after graduating with a degree in Microbiology.
